Barbell Step Ups - Short

Description

Preparation

  • Grasp the bar with a wide grip , the forearms will be vertical
  • Position the barbell across the back of shoulders
  • Stand in front of a bench or chair
  • Standing close to bench emphasises the quadracepts
  • Standing further away emphasises the gluteus maximus

Action

  • Raise one foot onto the bench or chair
  • Powerfully flex the knee and hip of the raised leg lifting your body from the floor
  • Place the second foot onto the bench or chair
  • Keep body upright during exercise

Return

  • Step back with same leg, flexing the supporting leg at knee and hip
  • Place foot back onto floor
  • Lift first foot off of bench back onto floor
