Barbell Step Ups - Long
Description
Preparation
- Grasp the bar with a wide grip , the forearms will be vertical
- Position the barbell across the back of shoulders
- Stand in front of a bench or chair
- Standing close to bench emphasises the quadracepts
- Standing further away emphasises the gluteus maximus
Action
- Raise one foot onto the bench or chair
- Powerfully flex the knee and hip of the raised leg lifting your body from the floor
- Place the second foot onto the bench or chair
- Keep body upright during exercise
Return
- Step back with same leg, flexing the supporting leg at knee and hip
- Place foot back onto floor
- Lift first foot off of bench back onto floor
